NEHAWU Western Cape Calls On Premier Winde to Come Clean On MEC Fritz Suspension
Monday January 24, 2022
The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] in the Western Cape Province has learnt of the decision by the Western Cape Premier to place MEC of Community Safety, Albert Fritz on immediate suspension following serious allegations of misconduct.
As NEHAWU, we organise in the Department of Community Safety where Mr Fritz is an MEC. Therefore, we have every right to be furnished with the reasons that have led to his suspension and hence we call on the Premier to take workers and the country into confidence and come clean about his reasons for this immediate suspension.
NEHAWU wants to put it on record that should Mr Fritz’s suspension be related to any unacceptable conduct towards workers, the union would call on him to resign with immediate effect, and in the event he refuses to do so, the union would embark on an intensive programme of action to ensure that he is eventually dismissed.
The union will also be writing to Premier Winde to demand a report on the reasons for Mr Fritz suspension and to be informed about the action the Premier intends taking in dealing with his matter.
